Introduction

Race 5: Herdings Immunity – This fabulously titled race started at Meersbrook Hall climbed up through Meersbrook Park, Carr Woods, Blackstock Open Space, Rollestone Woods, up to the trig point at Herding Park then passed through seldom visited Oakes Park, continued past the Water Tower and then bombed back down between the Lees Hall Golf Course and Newfield School to finish again at Meersbrook Hall. Our race coincided with the date for the @smallparkBIGRUN 24 community challenge, race and fundraiser for two women’s and Children’s projects in Gaza which this year had to held ‘virtually’ raising over £8,000. Herdings Immunity covered the same route as the spBR should have through Meersbrook Park. Mandatory checkpoints along the run were decorated with Palestinian flags and NTCLC racers were encouraged to help with the fundraising effort. It was good that many participants collected litter on their recces (nothing to do with the ten bonus points obviously!).
