Introduction
The Secret Garden Stride is a shorter run beginning at the start of the original Cat Lane Canter, at Newfield School. There was no official route but runners needed to call in at five checkpoints on their way to and from the Secret Garden in Graves Park.
The race resulted in much debate about the short routes and the benefits of a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction (Ed: from above).

Scoring
50 points for fastest time. Everyone else gets a percentage – if the winning time is 1 hour and you take 2 hours, you get 25 points. Plus a 5 point bonus for collecting some rubbish either on a recce or the race.
